​Missouri Specialty Crops
MFMA is a proud recipient of a grant from the Specialty Crops Block Grant Program (SCBGP), which is designed to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops. Specialty crops are defined as “fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture).

Here is a list of active specialty crop organizations. Contact these organizations to find specialty crop growers for your market. 
  • Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) - Specialty Crop Block Grant Program
    The MDA administers the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP), which aims to improve the competitiveness of specialty crops, increase markets, and invest in research.
  • ​University of Missouri - Food & Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI)
    FAPRI creates budgets for the costs of producing fruits and vegetables. These budgets are based on common production practices, input use, and other factors. 
  • Lincoln University - Cooperative Extension Specialty Crops Program (LU-SCP)
    This program aims to improve food security and environmental equity by developing educational programs about specialty crops. 
  • Missouri Growers Association (MGA)
    This organization provides a way for specialty crop producers and marketers to connect, share information, and learn about the industry.
